Calico

Type: dominant

A normally patterned ball python with patches/scales of white on the lower portion of the body in the gold pattern.

Calico ball pythons have white patches and /or scales on the lower portion of their bodies. The white patches/scales are only present in the gold portion of the pattern, not the black or dark brown portion of the pattern and these areas of white do not go up onto the dorsal area of the ball python. As hatchlings the white pattern is visible as vivid dark pink areas on the side of the ball python. As the snake matures the pink gradually begins to turn white. No two calicos have the same amount of white on them. The amount of white does not change as the snake ages.
